Private Lessons

Private lessons are the most efficient way to learn to dance, as they address the student’s personal weaknesses in their dancing.

Recommended for all dancers, private lessons, when used in conjunction with group classes and practice, can speed up a student’s progress exponentially.  Evidence clearly shows that private lesson students take far (up to years) less time to learn to dance than students who take group classes alone.

Private lessons can address those areas of dancing that are more difficult to address in a group class, such as timing, lead/follow problems, technique issues, posture deficiencies and much more.  Since a group class instructor cannot dance with everyone in the class, he or she often relies upon sight alone to fix problems students display.  In a private lesson the instructor can actually dance with the students, and feel through the dancing exactly what needs to be handled for that student.  In this manner the instructor pinpoints the exact problems in the student’s dancing and handles them quickly and efficiently.

Coaching

Olga & Dima Sukachov

During a student’s training it is often wise to bring a third party onto one’s private lesson for a fresh “eye”. A “Coach”, usually a senior or very experienced instructor, observes what the student has been working on and can do and offers advice to the student and staff instructor about the student’s overall direction, strengths and weaknesses. This approach keeps the student winning and moving forward and can help work out any snags that may appear while learning to dance.
